Mother's Day

*NOTE* I will now be writing explanatory text ABOVE the pictures--I hope you can adjust.

Here are some of the guys post-Mother's Day meal. Hmmmm...shouldn't that be Mavis and I? Just teasing, Ben and Tyler made a wonderful lunch and deserved a rest!

We all had a chance to talk to Jenna on skype. We talked to her in the afteroon on Sunday--she was just getting ready to go to her Monday morning classes! She comes home soon--June 20th. Oh, and check out the great Australian sweatshirt she mailed Grant! When we put it on him he said, "I'm a rocket ship man!" Actually, I think it's more of a surf theme myself....

Grant had his last day of school today. Grandma E and I attended his program and I think we would both agree that Grant was the most antsy of them all. While all the other toddlers stayed right in their seats, Grant was doing acrobatics in, on and around his! Also, I put him in this nice shirt (that probably needs to go back in the closet for a couple months) that Jenna gave him that was only half tucked in so he kind of looked like a ragamuffin.

School & Playgroup

Here's Grant heading off to school on Monday. Next week is his last day. They are going to have a 10 minute program! We've been hearing previews (we're pretty sure Jesus Loves Me is going to be sung)

I got my Mother's Day gift a little early. He was very proud and kept saying "Happy Mother's Day!" I think he had been coached.

I could hardly believe I was dressing Grant in shorts and a t-shirt yesterday. Gretta got to come to the park (where our playgroup met) also. Two other moms brought their dogs so it was like a dog playgroup as well.

Megan Visits

Megan stayed with us Wednesday and Thursday night. On Wednesday, Kristine had us all over for dinner and on Thursday we went out to eat in Minneapolis. Megan did her research work at the twin cities campus and the Duluth campus.

Grant ate all his greens beans and peas last night! (OK, so we're a little low on pictures)

The 4 of us just got back from a walk to a nearby park. Grant and Daddy had to show me their monkey bar shenanigans. Grant holds on as long as he can and then starts whimpering for his Daddy to grab him.

I think the leaves have a ways to go. Should be out around July.

The walk back was tiresome for a guy with little legs.

Is it finally Spring?

This morning we visited Great-Grandma Vaughn in Arden Hills. After enjoying our McDonald's lunch we got out the toys (some of which are 50 years old). Grant loves Grandma's toy collection.

Grant was very excited to get out his police car today.

A policeman has to have a clean car!

Grant got to put his own hamburger patty on the grill. We had our first meal outside tonight!

After dinner we took a walk (including Gretta) to McDonald's for ice cream. Do you think Grant had a dish or a cone?

This was as close to the ocean Grant would get. However, neither of us cared to go much further ourselves! (wimps)

We discovered that Grant is quite the dancer and loves being on stage. His dance moves consist of a horse gallop and sort of jig (pictured here).

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

Whew--what a week (and a half)! Two great trips--it's been wonderful. When on the first night I said to Michael, Mavis and Ben "I can't believe we have 6 whole days here" they chuckled and said it would fly by...and it did! Our biggest decisions were what to eat off the buffet, which pool to swim in and what kind of drink to order next. :-) A true vacation.

This helped Grant stay afloat in the kiddie pool (and got a lot of laughs from all of us). However, he did go under a few times which of course scared the heck out of me (but not him). He seems to love the water so Ben and I think he'll have a great time at the lake this summer.

Everyday there was one or two cruise ships parked for the day.

Michael spent most of the day with us and then headed downtown at night to be with his friends.

Grammy, Grant and Michael had dinner on their own one night while Ben and I went downtown.

Grant is learning to solemn ski using Uncle's shoe. (aren't we creative?) Michael spent a lot of time with Grant in the pool.

Did you know Mexico lowered their drinking age to 2?

There might be some tickling going on here (a surefire way to get a smile for a picture).

This is the kiddie pool Grant spent most of his time in. I'm told I missed a pretty humorous pool visit when Grant was befriended by a 13 year old girl. Apparently she was teasing him by saying "this is my ball" about Grant's beach ball. After disagreeing with her several times Grant got fed up and said "where's your mommy?!"

So all in all it was a terrific vacation. Thank you to all the parents for making it possible!
